Business verification or validation process includes three stages: domain ownership verification, company verification, and a callback. The process takes about 2-5 working days if all documents are correct and sent on time.

Stage 1 - Domain Verification

Verification by e-mail
Domain verification by e-mail is the simplest method to pass domain ownership verification. SSL certification center sends confirmation e-mail to e-mail address specified in the verification step. The e-mail contains verification code and the link to page where the code should be specified. Just open the link and paste the code to pass domain control verification.

The certification center can send e-mails following addresses only:
postmaster@your-domain.com
administrator@your-domain.com
admin@your-domain.com
webmaster@your-domain.com
hostmaster@your-domain.com

If you do not have one of e-mail address above you can either create such e-mail address (if you have own e-mail server) or use e-mail forwarding feature of your domain to forward e-mails to your real e-mail address.

How to use e-mail forwarding from your domain?

For example you have:
domain: jstars.com
e-mail: janet-space@gmail.com
and you need to get e-mails which come to postmaster@jstars.com

You can open your domain administration panel for jstars.com and set e-mail forwarding:
from postmaster@
to janet-space@gmail.com

If you do not have e-mail forwarding for your domain, you can transfer your domain to Regery Services and use our e-mail forwarding feature with other popular and unique features that we provide.

Verification by HTTP (file on your website, access via HTTP)
The second simple method to pass domain ownership verification is the verification by file on your site. We provide you verification file, you place it on your site by the path we specify. That is all. The file should be accessible from the internet without redirects by HTTP link.

If you already have SSL installed and worked, please use HTTPS verification method because usually HTTP requests will be redirected to HTTPS or cancelled.

Verification by HTTPS (file on your website, access via HTTPS)
Same simple method as via HTTP to pass domain ownership verification. We provide you verification file, you place it on your site by the path we specify. That is all. The file should be accessible from the internet without redirects by HTTPS link.

If you do not have SSL installed, please use HTTP verification method because HTTPS links will not work.

Verification by DNS CNAME record
Domain control verification by DNS is most complicated method because it requires technical skills about how DNS work and sometimes control panel for domain does not provide direct access to manage DNS host records or access provided is limited.

Changes in the DNS system are not instantaneous and depend on TTL settings (the time in seconds when the changes are updated). The update can take up to 48 hours (172800 seconds)

You can check CNAME record on our NS Lookup page.

If you do not have ability to set CNAME record for your domain, you can transfer your domain to Regery Services and use our DNS management system.

Stage 2 - Organization Verification

To pass Business/Organization verification, you need to provide some official documents to the certification center. In most cases they require Business License/Article of Incorporation/Registration application. You can submit them via Post Mail, fax or send via e-mail in PDF/JPG format.

Option I (Most popular)
Company legal existence checks via public government database using company name or unique identification number, or registration number.

Option II
Company can be checked via public 3rd party databases like:

DUNS numbers
Russia: Spark-interfax.ru
Ukraine: DUNS for Ukraine
International: Duns & Bradstreet
Hoovers
Companies House GOV.UK
Lursoft.lv

Option III
Company address can be verified by one of the documents:
- Articles of Incorporation (with address)
- Government Issued Business License (with address)
- Copy of a recent company bank statement (you may blacken out the Account Number)
- Copy of a recent company phone bill
- Copy of a recent major utility bill of the company (i.e. power bill, water bill, etc.) or current lease agreement for the company

Stage 3 - Callback process

For Business/Organization verification SSL Certification Centers use automated callback process. Comodo robot calls you on the verified number and tells you a verification code.

To validate official phone number you can use any of the options:

Option I (GeoTrust/Thawte/Symantec)
The SSL Certification Center verifies phone number via public Yellow pages Databases like numberway.com OR world.192.com

Option II
The SSL Certification Center may verify phone number via trusted/government databases like:
Russia: Spark-interfax.ru
Ukraine: DUNS for Ukraine
International: Duns & Bradstreet
Hoovers

Option III
Using verified legal opinion or accountant letter signed notary. The SSL certification center may verify notary legality.
