How to manage TXT-records?
Updated over a week ago

TXT records (Text Records) are used in the Domain Name System (DNS) to store textual information that can be associated with a domain. They can contain various types of data, and here are some cases when they are used:

  1. Domain ownership verification: Many services, such as Google, Microsoft, and others, require domain ownership verification before providing certain services.

  2. SPF records (Sender Policy Framework): SPF records are used to prevent sender address forgery in email.

  3. DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail): DKIM is used to verify the authenticity of email messages.

  4. DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance): DMARC helps ensure stricter email validation by combining SPF and DKIM.

  5. Quick access to information: TXT records can contain any textual information that may be useful for domain administrators or other services.

How to specify a TXT record

To manage DNS records use the DNS zone editor you need to go to:

  • Domains

  • Actions

  • DNS Records (Regery)

  • Select record type TXT

  • Specify the required TXT record

  • Save

Adding a new TXT record:

  • Select recording type: Select recording type TXT.

  • Name (host)

  • For the primary domain, enter @ as the host.

  • For a subdomain, enter the name of the subdomain (for example, for the subdomain shop.domain.tld, enter shop).

  • TXT Value: Enter the value you want to add. This can be, for example, an SPF record or a verification record. Your mail provider or service that requires verification will provide you with the exact value of the record.

  • TTL (Time to Live): If there are no specific TTL requirements, use the default value.

Waiting for changes to propagate

After making changes, please allow 3-48 hours for the changes to fully propagate. By protocol, DNS update is up to 48 hours

Edit or delete TXT records:

  • Go to the domain's DNS zone editor.

  • Find the record you want to change or delete.

  • Select the edit or delete entry option and make the necessary changes.

Additional Notes:
1. If your domain is managed by another ISP through NS records, you will need to use that ISP's control panel to make changes to the DNS zones.
2. Be sure to pay attention to the instructions of your provider or service, which may provide specific instructions for configuring TXT records.
